Wow...it's nearly 2009! This seems to have snuck up on us fast. I find myself checking back to see what I found interesting in 2008 and what I wish for in 2009 that will be new and exciting.
Among the musical treasures for me of 2008 are the Taylor Hicks keepsakes that illustrate the broad spectrum of his talent and his willingness to take a risk with something new. As his 2007 solo tour came to a close and fans were feeling his absence from the stage, Taylor began a new phase in his career. He emerged on the Broadway stage and took it by storm in "Grease" as Teen Angel, and took that even further to a national tour. He also began the long and carefully crafted work on his new CD "The Distance," due out March 10th.
As I reflect on 2008, both in my personal life and in following Taylor Hicks in his pursuit of Dreams even higher than he imagined, I find myself wondering where any of us would be without the support of family and friends? Whether my own life was rich with family experiences or difficult with illnesses, I would try to look for the many ways to enjoy the pleasures in life that were there for the taking. Among these for me is Taylor Hicks music.
Taylor has written about his struggles in his book Heart Full of Soul and spoken about his dedication to his Dream in countless interviews. He has always stressed the support he receives from his family and friends and fan base. Taylor Hicks is among several who have influenced my past year by reminding us that you best move forward and improve your life by your own hands and determination. Staying positive isn't easy in our world lately. However, people like Taylor and others who refuse to give up, are a constant boost to anyone who doubts the possibility of achieving a Dream.
So....here is a fond farewell to 2008 and a big HELLO to 2009! I am going to start my first month of 2009 with many wonderful experiences, and among them is an appearance by Taylor Hicks at a shadow tour show after his "Grease" performance. A new year filled with new music by my favorite singer of blue-eyed soul and the promise of love and support with my family and friends...what could be better? If you have the time and the means this year, please DON'T forget to add those things which give you pleasure to those which you must do, or to those that take precedence over others. If music is among your treasures, then go for it! Music frees the Soul, gives it Life and energy. And who better to offer that to us than Taylor Hicks, the man who has given his Heart and Soul to music and to his fans? Check out his National "Grease" tour and the shadow shows afterward, coming to a town near you soon. Treat yourself this coming year!
HAPPY 2009 EVERYONE AND HERE'S TO LIFE, LOVE, AND GOOD SOUL MUSIC WITH OUR FAVORITE SOULMAN!

That magical time is getting closer and closer! Taylor Hicks and Soulful Christmas...what a combo. For my first present, I took myself and hubby to see "Grease" here in Michigan. What a fabulous evening! Front row seats and a Meet and Greet afterward, even my husband got to meet the SoulMan. Taylor RAWKED that stage and was every bit as good as he was on Broadway...perhaps better. My full recap and a few photos are on the Taylor Hicks Community message and media boards.
In case you don't get to "Grease" before the Holidays and are longing for some Taylor Hicks in your life, visit our Take 2 section where we are featuring a different Christmas performance each week through the Holidays. This week it is a fantastic version of "White Christmas" from the Early Show, with an unbelievable high def capture and some lucious photos to go with it, plus a download of the song in MP3 format.
Come on over and celebrate with us...everyone can see and hear this Christmas Cheer!

In an interview in Providence, R.I. where Taylor Hicks is starring in the National Tour of "Grease," Taylor revealed the title of his upcoming CD. It is called The Distance and how aptly named this is! Taylor Hicks has gone THE DISTANCE and then some.
While speculation among his fanbase runs high as to the meaning of this title, many meanings fit. Taylors tells us the new album is a mix of different genres. One thing remains crystal clear, however....Taylor Hicks is an artist who knows exactly what he is doing, and who he is. And that spells SUCCESS!
The new CD, The Distance, drops February 10th. MAKE SURE *YOU* GO THE DISTANCE FOR TAYLOR HICKS. GET YOUR COPIES AND GIVE SOME TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY. IT WILL BE A TERRIFIC GIFT!

This year, two Taylor Hicks fansites have teamed together to benefit children in Taylor's home town. TheOfficialSoulPatrol and The Taylor Hicks Community have joined hands with the Birmingham Salvation Army to offer some Christmas Cheer to Birmingham children through our own Birmingham Angel Tree Online Project.
This is a wonderful way to give some Holiday Happiness to children and their familes! It is the spirit of Taylor Hicks and his committment to kids that has inspired this very special event. Although Taylor is not connected with this, his gentle and generous heart have given us the desire to help the children in Birmingham enjoy this Holiday Season.

The Taylor Hicks Community extends its heartfelt Support and Thanks on this Veterans Day, to all of the men and women who stand daily to protect our Great Country, and salutes the families and loved ones of these brave troops, who steadfastly stand with them and with us. I cannot think of a better place to live than the USA and I cannot say THANK YOU enough to all who have given, and continue to give, so much to our Beloved Homeland.
Taylor Hicks has given us a lot of gifts himself, and being a strong support of our troops is one of them in both his music and his actions. His song "Do I Make You Proud" has become a symbol of hope and pride to many of our soldiers who risk their lives daily to make sure we continue to have the freedom to create and listen to music, and to live our lives in all ways in this freedom.
Taylor Hicks has also inspired some awesome folks to help our men and women overseas. Here are a few links where you can help too:

Taylor with Kids at Grammy U
Taylor Hicks is a consummate artist. His music is genuine, perfect, and soulful. And speaking of soul....Taylor's Heart and Soul are definitely in THE RIGHT PLACE, especially when it comes to working for, and talking, with kids. He has helped out many major charity events and also taken time to talk with kids at various events about careers and music and life, including Grammy U and Me TV.
According to Al.Com's article about the Magic Moments Charity, Taylor Hicks was the FIRST to sign up to help his home state of Alabama make kids wishes come true. He is in good company, with Reuben Studdard, Joe Namath, Al Del Greco, and Olympian Vonetta Flowers, who are all helping the Magic Moments Charity help grant chronically ill children's wishes. This coincides with Stars Fall on Alabama this year.
You can read about Taylor Hicks and the others right here:
Taylor Hicks is a man with more HEART AND SOUL than can fill one single spirit. The Taylor Hicks Community SALUTES AND LOVES you, Taylor, for filling the Hearts, Souls, and Spirits of the children of Alabama and everywhere else.

As we look forward to two new tours from Taylor Hicks, "Grease" and his new CD tour, I am lost in memories of the last concert I attended on his solo tour Journey. Taylor was at his wonderful supremo and so, I have lots of goodies from that show.
If you would like to re-live one of the last legs of Taylor Hicks and his solo CD tour, please join us at the TTHC Media Board Take 2 area, for REMEMBERING MILLERSVILLE. This area is open to all, members and non members to view.

So we are at a little cafe in Athens, Greece and we ask a couple near us if the food is good. They say yes and ask us where we are from. Then I ask where they are from...I bet you can guess where this is going....
They are from Birmingham, Alabama and know of Taylor Hicks...their son went to high school with him. Of course, I was ChattyPatty with this couple instantly and HIGHLY recommended they go buy Taylor Hicks Early Works. I soooo wish I had one with me, so they could take it back to all their friends and get them to buy also, but I gave them the lowdown. They were so proud of Taylor for his success and for "Grease." It is no that coincidence that this man and his music follows us around the world....he is so incredible at what he does, his artistry, that it's no wonder he is known all over, even internationally in Italy and now Greece. And what Fates led me to this couple? Why the Taylorizers, of course :) So....Taylor Hicks has come from Birmingham, Alabama, to New York in one version of "Grease," and now has found his way through his hometown fans, to yet another Greece...Athens!
What a small world...our Soulman is found everywhere!

As I woke this morning, I checked outside as I do each morning. The sun was out and it's a beautiful day here. I switched on my CD player to listen to my Taylor Hicks music, and then I checked the time and saw the date...and I knew in my heart, I woke up in a very special place....MY COUNTRY, MY HOME where I could awaken safely to listen to Taylor Hicks music, to go outside into the sun, to enjoy my family all around me, all the pleasures we often take for granted. To this day, when I remember, when I think about Sept 11, my tears fall freely and proudly. My Country is my home and without the brave efforts of so many lives, some lost and some returned, I would not be waking up to enjoy these beautiful treasures of Freedom, in my beautiful free homeland.
GOD BLESS THE USA....GOD BLESS THOSE WHO KEEP IT SAFE...AND GOD BLESS ALL OF US WHO BELIEVE IN OUR COUNTRY ENOUGH TO FIGHT TO KEEP IT OURS!

So far, we have spoken with Quinn Borland of SpoonfulJames and also, Michael Sheehan, who photographs Taylor so eloquently.
This week, TTHC features a fabulous interview with Jon Cook, long time friend of Taylor Hicks, who is featured prominently on Taylor's pre idol CDs. Jon is a fantastic guitarist and singer, and has many interesting and insightful comments on his friend. Jon is just a delight to talk to and truly a good buddy of Taylor's. Please join us at TTHC for this continuing series on Early Taylor Hicks, with our newest interview this week....Jon Cook:)

Taylor Hicks had his final curtain call last night on Broadway. I am feeling like it's a mixture of nostalgia, relief, and bit of sadness for him, the cast, and his fans. Taylor was really terrific last night, according to all reports, and the cast even attempted to lift him in homage to the many audiences he has thrilled and increased, since his addition to the ensemble cast.
TaylorsAngels has a wonderful interview with Kirsten Wyatt, who plays Frenchie to Taylor Hicks' Teen Ange, which is testament to how much he was loved by the cast and crew. I am quite sure New York, Broadway, the fans, and "Grease" will be missing their resident Soul Angel for many weeks and months to come.
Their loss may be our gain, as Taylor Hicks continues to develop his craft and talent for his one true passion, his music. We will be seeing him down the road onstage and off, doing what he does best...ENTERTAIN AND PLEASE!
ROCK ON, SOUL ANGEL!
Sunday, September 7, 2008
Tonight marks the farewell performance of Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel in "Grease." This has been a most successful run for Taylor and he has much to be proud of, along with his God Given talent for producing and delivering musical enjoyment to everyone who attends his appearances. This role has afforded him the opportunity to show his theatre stage presence, as well as his tour stage charm, and has garnered him many new fans as well as pleasing his present fans.
And now, according to various interviews, it's off to bigger and more wonderful Taylor Hicks things! With a new CD in the process, his creative genuis will once again be showcased. As much as Taylor has been in the media lately, with photo shoots of his New York digs, and his dressing room at the Brooks Atkinson theatre, plus the hoardes of adoring fans waiting for him in Meet and Greets or at the stage door, I have a sneaking hunch that what Taylor Hicks is MOST proud of, is his MUSIC, and rightly so. That musical genius, and his passion for it, has always carried him along this business industry and incredible Journey that began so long ago, before many knew of him. The rest of the good stuff is simply the Gravy from this Big Potroast Full of Soul!
Yep, Taylor Hicks, you made us Proud and continue to do that every day!
Congrats on a tremendously successful run on Broadway in "Grease." Looking foward to the next leg of this fabulous and hard earned Journey.

The Taylor Hicks Community continues with its Take2 lookback at past shows on the anniverary of their concert dates. We started this last year, after the concert series was over and fans were lonesome for their Soulman.
Today we celebrate the anniversary of two terrific venues....Orange Beach, Alabama and the FLORABAMA! The Florabama is a great roadhouse on the boundary of Pensacola and Alabama, and was one of the places Taylor Hicks played in the early days. For this show, he returned to his old haunt and gave fans the time of their lives!
Check out our excellent videos and photos memories of Taylor Hicks at Orange Beach and Florabama right here:

As Taylor Hicks fans celebrate this Labor Day Holiday weekend, let us also say Prayers for our friends and family who are in the path of Hurricane Gustav and possibly Hurricane Hanna. Gustav comes on the very weekend of Katrina, a sad memory and tragedy for so many who are still reeling from her effects, and are now bracing for yet another monster storm. New Orleans is the prime worry, but areas all along the gulf coast are expected to be impacted, INCLUDING THE ALABAMA SHORES, Taylor's home state.
This also brings a memory which, to me, is bittersweet. It was the tragedy three years ago of Katrina, that brought Fate to Taylor Hicks and then brought Taylor Hicks to the adoring public, as he took one of the only flights open to him from New Orleans to Las Vegas and American Idol auditions....and the rest is history, both exciting for his fans, and heartbreaking for all those hit hard by Katrina.
While Taylor Hicks' story is a truly wonderful silver lining in that storm, we cannot ever forget the devastation to the places Katrina hit, again including parts of Alabama. And now as Gustav builds in intensity, possibly to a monster hurricane, let us keep Prayers for all of the places, in the USA and other countries, where it leaves its mark, especially New Orleans. And remember the birthplace and home of Taylor Hicks, along with LA, MISS, and the entire gulf coast...you have our fervent Prayers and Hopes that you are all safe this Holiday weekend.

I am truly in love with this new/old CD from Taylor Hicks. I play it all the time in my car, find it soothing and exhilarating at the same time.
I think what strikes me continually, is the absolute passion and genius of the melodies and lyrics that Taylor wrote himself. How many of us can just sit down and put our life and our feelings into songs that good, and then present them to the public ears in such a humble, yet fiercely impacting manner? Taylor Hicks has woven such magic as this.
Early Taylor Hicks is so appearling to me. I first heard Under the Radar, then heard some cuts off In Your Time. This was before Idol, but not that long before. I was hooked the minute I heard the first song and the genuine presentation of the music. I even admit to not being bowled over by the cover photo, but being absolutely floored by the music itself. When I listen to "In Your Time," the song, I find it so pleasing with the different tempos and pieces, which somehow all fit together perfectly.
When I get lost in "Somehow" or "The Fall," I think to myself...THIS IS A FIRST CD and it is so full of passion, soul, full of LIFE. When I hear songs like "My Friend," which is so different and so much fun, and "Hold On To Your Love," with its short comparison lines, or the little trills he does in between, I keep thinking how young Taylor Hicks was when he made this old school blues music, and how much depth there is to this man.
Early Works has these same songs recaptured....remastered better...but has kept the very flavor that was and is Taylor today. I just keep thinking over and over, as I keep listening....how DAMN GOOD and how very gifted Taylor Hicks is. And I am so proud to be a fan of this man and I am so proud that he has come so far. He has waited a long time for this, but never lost his passion for it. When I listen to Early Works, I get choked up to think how much he has accomplshed, and yet how much he is still that Early Taylor who has always been true to the music. Sometimes I just can't put into words what I want to express about this man and his artistry, but it's there...in my heart.
If you haven't heard or previewed Taylor Hicks Early Works...you can do so right here. If this man doesn't grab you to the point of rushing out to buy it, then take a lesson about what BLUES truly is and listen again and again, until your car drives you to Target :)

TTHC is continuing with our FABULOUS new Early Taylor section, celebrating the early genius of Taylor Hicks. We have interviews with his former bandmates and some of his friends, who still occasionally play with him, as well as photos and media.
Last week, we featured an interview with Quinn Borland of the fantastic band SpoonfulJames, which was really informative and enjoyable!
This week, join us for some special insight from Michael Sheehan, who is a professional photographer and friend of Taylor Hicks. Mike's work appears on the liners of both "Under the Radar" and "Early Works." He believes strongly in copyrights, so please respect that when visiting his site. Mike was happy to help us remember Taylor Hicks in the early days, so hop on over to read his take on our SoulMan.
This is open to the general public to view, but you will need to be a member to comment. Check it out! Taylor Hicks was fabulous early on and the MAGIC continues now!

WELL WELL WELL....Taylor Hicks has certainly been on everyone's minds this morning, with his version of Supply and Demand. Early Works Supply is somewhat low...DEMAND IS SOMEWHAT HIGH...YIPPEE!
Amazon.com no longer has the Taylor Hicks Early Works CD listed as available. What does this mean? According to a frenzy, some are snarky, some are concerned, and some are elated, but everyone is talking about this CD! From information I was given from several sources, this is apparently due to Amazon's TEMPORARY supply of the pre-order CD selling out. What does this mean, you ask? I know I certainly asked!
Basically it means something quite simple...CD went on pre-sale at Amazon...people bought it...YAY!....and now Amazon needs more. It also means sales on Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, and other sites are increasing by the minute. And you know what this says to me?
TAYLOR HICKS IS HOT! HIS SALES ARE GOOD FOR THE EARLY WORKS CD. THIS IS A GOOD THING, PEOPLE. DON'T FRET, JUST GO BUY IT SOMEWHERE :):)
PS--NEWSFLASH FROM TAYLOR'S CAMP! CD IS COMING OUT AUGUST 12TH! PLUS A NEW ANNOUNCEMENT COMING END OF THIS WEEK.

OK they are not really "unsung" so much, as they do get lots of hits. Taylor Hicks has some MAJOR backing in three very wonderful folks who continually promote him and welcome US, his enthusiastic if somewhat nutty...lol...fanbase. I wanted to take time to dedicate a special THANK YOU to these three guys who love Taylor and help keep him in the public eyes and ears. You can find each of these by just googling their names.
UncleShag at WLSO radio in Atlanta, GA...he has tirelessly played and promoted Taylor Hicks for months and months. He is a truly terrific guy, who seems to love those Bama Boys and their music, and Taylor is a regular feature on his show.
Gregg@Radioio....this is a LARGE internet radio stream, with a guy who not only welcomes Taylor's fans to comment and email him, but plays a ton of Taylor's music, both early and new.
Blues Historian....an amazing site that features video and audio for Taylor Hicks, and commentary to go with it. He has a lot of other blues music, which is also great to listen to, and absolutely supports our SoulMan. He is also playing a lot of Taylor's early music.
I want to say again how much we Taylor Hicks fans appreciate these three people. They are not only helping Taylor, but helping his new CD Early Works, which is a GEM to buy!
SO A BIG, RESOUNDING T H A N K Y O U to these three hard working DJs who love and support Taylor Hicks! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Today marks the Anniversary of a very special and amazing event. On 7-20-07, Taylor Hicks sat down with Janice from Fox 6 Birmingham, and spent time talking to her and a packed audience about his book, Heart Full of Soul. It was a night to remember for everyone.
Taylor Hicks gave a moving account of his life...struggles and proud moments...and answered questions, gave little stories to make us laugh and cry...and then read from his own book, his own words, in that husky southern voice we have all learned to love.
I can't remember a more moving time, except maybe when he won his crown on American Idol. As I watch this clip again, I am shedding BIG, SAPPY tears, as Taylor Hicks talks about achieving his Dreams. AND BOY, HAVE YOU DONE THAT, SOULMAN! You are on Broadway, you have performed on our Nation's Capitol lawn, you have brought music and Joy into our hearts in every way possible. YOU CAN BE PROUD AND YOU HAVE MADE US PROUD. You have captured us all, ONE SOUL AT A TIME.
If you would like to relive this amazing night, please join us at The Taylor Hicks Community for an excerpt and memorable photos. This can be found on our media board in our Take 2 section, open to the public. If you are a member of our site, you can download the entire footage and join us for some lively discussion on Connections, where we remember this appearance as once of the standouts of 2007 and of Taylor Hicks' career. The link can also be found by clicking on title of this entry.
Enjoy! You Done Good, SoulMan!

TAYLOR HICKS EARLY WORKS PROMOTIONAL VIDEO
NOT that we need any more reasons to enjoy Taylor Hicks music or anything...but... there has been discussion about whether to buy the same songs we might already have on the two other pre_Idol CDs, which indeed are valid questions to ask. I can only speak for myself, but here are my reasons for buying not one, but several:
---Firstly and foremost...to support Taylor Hicks in any way I can.
---They are not that costly and could possibly have remixed sound (I don't know this for a fact, BTW).
---GIVE THEM TO PEOPLE! Many may not be fans yet, but have seen him in "Grease" or at A Capitol Fourth, and would most probably love to get a glimpse of the early genius of Taylor Hicks that has blossomed, yet stayed true, since those first two CDs were done.
---It's a Taylor Hicks Happening! When the next public appearances start, if nothing else, I may be able to have a signed copy of this one too, to keep unopened for my collections, so if you collect also, have at it!
---To have all or most of my favorites on one CD that I don't have to continually swap around in my car CD player :)
---Lastly and foremost...TO SUPPORT TAYLOR HICKS IN ANY WAY I CAN.
THAT'S ALL, FOLKS! AS WE SAY ON THE FANSITES...JMHO.

Taylor Hicks continues to WOW audiences with his "Grease" Performance. This morning, he was interviewed on MyFox NY, on their Good Day Live segment. He gave a very informative interview, which will probably be archived on their site later today, and performed "Beauty School Dropout" with the Frenchie actress by his side. This was FABULOUS! Even though his voice was a little hoarse, it gave the performance a cool sort of Taylorized sound. In his interview, he mentioned future acting roles. LOL OH TAYLORRRRRRRRRR....WE WANT YOU HAPPY BUT WE WANT YOU BACK ON THE TOUR STAGE TOO! He did his usual super job with the media and with the song, and his charm is always evident. It is so very nice to see and hear Taylor Hicks so happy with what he is doing, achieving his Dream even higher than he could ever imagine. If you haven't seen "Grease" yet and have ANY chance to get there...DO IT!

Taylor Hicks has released his "Early Works" CD finally! The release date is August 19th and you can pre-order this on Amazon.com. Mention is also made on the MTV, AOL, and VH1 sites...GREAT PR!
The music of Taylor Hicks has thrilled audiences since his first note on Idol, but many have known him from before and have loved his early music. For those who may have missed that, you can own it and listen to your heart's delight. Taylor has done covers and many of his original songs on past CDs and now you can get these on his new "Early Works CD!"
RUN - DON'T WALK - TO AMAZON AND GET YOUR COPY NOW. IN FACT, GET SEVERAL! THEY MAKE GREAT GIFTS!

The show was excellent. The talent was immensely satisfying, as were the fireworks. However, the BIGGEST AND BRIGHTEST light there was Taylor Hicks!
As Jimmy Smitts said, no one can get a party started better than Taylor Hicks. We saw evidence of this right after Huey Lewis came out and warmed up the crowd. Huey was his charming and confident usual, and I very much enjoyed the walk down memory lane with him. However, when Taylor came out, the atmosphere just went ELECTRIC long before the actual fireworks began.
He sang "Soul Thing" as if he owned it...wait a minute...he DOES!
All in all, a wonderful evening. The Birthday of Our Great Nation, graced by many talented performers, LIT UP BY TAYLOR HICKS, and followed by a fabulous firesworks display on the lawn of The Mall in our Nation's Capitol. It's enough to move even the hardest heart, to see so many gathered there to pay their respects.
GOD BLESS AMERICA! GOD BLESS THOSE WHO KEEP IT SAFE!

If you absolutely cannot wait until tomorrow to witness the magic of Taylor Hicks at the Capitol Fourth, then hop over to one of two sites to view some previews. TaylorsAngels blogspot has early rehearsal video embedded for your viewing pleasure. To add to that, our media board at TTHC has download links for these enbedded videos, plus some early photos of Taylor at rehearsal. TA and TTHC are working hard to get these uploaded so you can all have a great time a little ahead of tomorrow.
From the looks of things...Taylor Hicks will RAWK that place tomorrow!
Check out TA blogspot and TTHC media board to enjoy a preview of media and early photos.

Tomorrow is the BIG NIGHT! Taylor Hicks at the Capitol Fourth....is sure to be an explosive performance! Tune in to your local PBS channel for a night of music, soul, and fireworks. Taylor Hicks makes fireworks wherever he goes, and now is your chance to see him in our Nation's Capitol working his soulful magic on the mall for the crowds. The other artists and the beautiful fireworks display are sure to provide an evening of fabulous entertainment and fun, and starring our Taylor!
Sunday, June 29, 2008
Talk about "CAPITALIZING" on your talent! Taylor Hicks will help light up July 4th at the Nation's Capital, as he joins such notable other artists as: Jerry Lee Lewis, Huey Lewis and the News, Broadway performer Brian Stokes Mitchell, and classical singers Hayley Westenra, Harolyn Blackwell and Vittorio Grigolo. The event will be hosted by Jimmy Smitts and will also be televised, giving each artist fabulous exposure.
I particularly like producer Jerry Colbert's comment:
"Between the Lewis boys and Taylor Hicks, they'll get everybody going."
YOU CAN BET YOUR FIREWORKS ON THAT, JERRY!!!!
This will be a 90 minute broadcast that is sure to entertain and thrill both the live audiences and those of us stuck at home in front of our TVs, although we may actually get the better view, due to the large crowds that attend each year.
Taylor Hicks has "taylorized" Broadway and many a concert stage, including the gigantic venue Stadium of Fire. And now, he will also add his unique talent to A Capital Fourth, on the PBS station. Don't miss it!
While you are getting your Taylor Hicks Fix, don't forget to check out TTHC's media board in our Take 2 Section, where we are continuing to remember and celebrate anniversaries of past exciting concert venues. This week we are featuring the NorVa concert, one HOT show, with video to watch and pictures to download.
Taylor Hicks has definitely made his mark. Both he and his fans have a LOT to celebrate this July 4th, but then again...we have been seeing fireworks since the day Taylor first performed. He definitely sets off those sparks!
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, WHO HAVE SO BRAVELY KEPT OUR NATION'S FREEDOMS TO ENJOY THIS AND OTHER WONDERFUL EVENTS IN OUR BEAUTIFUL HOME....GOD BLESS THE USA!
Friday, June 27, 2008
According to the New York Post, Taylor Hicks is responsible for giving "Grease" and Broadway a new lift! Ummmm....excuse the Hell Out Of Us...But...THAT IS NO SURPRISE....LOL! Here is an exerpt:
"It got a little lift from the Tonys, but its real draw this summer is "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks, who's playing Teen Angel.
An insider says Hicks is worth at least $150,000 in extra ticket sales a week.
(Make a note of that, Mr. Agent.)
Whenever Hicks whips out his harmonica, the audience goes nuts.
They're having such a blast that the "Grease" megamix at the end of the show - this is where the critics ran screaming from the theater - now runs 10 minutes, with Hicks singing the title song and then playing it on his harmonica.
Meanwhile, the producers of the show are no longer flinching from the critical blows but are starting to have fun with them."

OK...we know Taylor Hicks makes an impression on audiences whenever and wherever he performs. He wowed us on Idol, he mesmerized us on the concert stage, he graces our television screens, but MAN...HAS HE MADE AN IMPACT ON BROADWAY!
The shows are selling out and stats tell us "Grease" sales are up by 18%, and Taylor is only in the first few weeks of his role. Coincidence? I think not...our silver haired SoulMan has brought his unique blend of quirk, talent, and pure charisma to the live theatre stage, and he has done it with charm, style, and TAYLORIZING!
Want to discuss this more and also see some great fan recaps and stage door photos? Hop on over to our message boards at The Taylor Hicks Community and then on to our media board. Taylor didn't confine his brand of Whomp and Soul to his own band. He has mixed and matched with several artists from different genres and what a match those were! TTHC Media is featuring video and photos from other artists Taylor has performed with in a special new forum. While you are checking out the terrific "Grease" reviews and media, stop by and check out these other artists too. It's all in the Take 2 section.
WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR MAN OF SOUL! He is making Spirits rise, he is making Smiles rise, and he is making Sales rise! If this isn't testimony to what a unique and true talent Taylor Hicks is, then Simon and Clive can eat my shorts, and in this hot weather, that isn't a pretty prospect. :)
GO SOULMAN! KNOCK 'EM DEAD!
Sunday, June 22, 2008
The lights darkened, the usual announcements were made, and the play began. It was way more enjoyable than I ever thought. I think everyone has mastered their roles quite well. All were quite comfortable on the stage and sang well, and projected well. Act one ended...my excitement inside GREW.
Act Two....the curtain rises and so does our anticipation. They go through the first two scenes, and the giant ice cream cone is hanging there over the malt shop, and we know WHO is inside...LOL!
FINALLY...TAYLOR! The cone opens and there he is, larger than life, because we were so close to the stage. He begins singing, the audience is clapping hard for him! I nearly got weepy...I was so PROUD for him! He descends down and steps out and the MAGIC just takes over.
You could really tell he had come into that role. He hammed it up and sang it so well. I have never heard his voice stronger! He nailed that song and just entertained to the hilt. He is a born star, a born professional, and a born entertainer...and he MAKES PEOPLE HAPPY!
Cutain call....he comes out and again applause! He does the usual walking around with the cast, singing most of the lead on the last song, and trying his best to get the hand jive right...LOL! He is darling and funny, and what he didn't remember, he filled in with his Taylorized steps, and just blew us and the audience away!
I came away with my head and heart burstng with Pride and Happiness for our Taylor. He is indeed the BRIGHTEST STAR ON BROADWAY!

Whew...so glad this is finally out there! August will prove to be a fun month for old and new Taylor Hicks fans. Vanguard Records is distributing his Early Works CD, which I understand to be a combination of much of his pre idol music from his early CDs. If you have not heard any of these, you are in for a major treat! Early Taylor Hicks music is every bit as talented and exciting as post Idol and in many ways to me, even more pleasurable since these are mostly original songs and certainly his unique styling of covers. What a super way to let new fans hear what has formed this amazing blues singer's present style. And yet, Taylor holds true to himself, both pre and post Idol.
August and Fall promise a wealth of Taylor Hicks enjoyment. The early works CD from Vanguard, followed by his new CD and hopefully the release of his DVD. And all of that spells new tour. So...in the words of Sam Cooke and Taylor Hicks..."A Change is Going to Come" this fall. Can't Wait!
Stay tuned for more CD news as it becomes available.

Taylor Hicks is a busy guy these days, starring as Teen Angel in "Grease." Mondays the theatre is dark. So our Angel proved he earned his title by spending his day off playing golf in a charity event for Autism Speaks. He has plenty of experience, both with golf and charities, as he has participated in the Bob Hope Classic twice and in the Regions Golf event in his home state. It's speaks a lot about Taylor, and it also does my heart good to know he is enjoying himself while once again helping children.
Taylor also found time to do an interview on WC11 TV in New York, which he handled with his usual grace and charm. Every time I see or hear something about our SoulMan, the pride just grows and grows. He is a consumate professional and a super nice guy, and definitely lives up to his Angel name this week! However, I won't be sending him a new sand wedge any time soon....:)

With our Taylor Hicks on the Broadway stage, he is enjoying tremendous success in his debut! This is excellent for him and for fans who are able to attend the play in New York. However....we MISS him on the concert stage! Last summer was a whirlwind of tour shows, with tons of fans at each one, loving him and of course, recording it all for posterity...ok and drooling...lol.
Well, fear not! You can still enjoy our SoulMan in concert. TTHC's media board is continuing with our popular Take 2 look back. We have been Remembering past shows in our member area, complete with embedded videos and fabulous photos. We have now moved this to the Take 2 general area, so this is open for everyone to re-live and rave about to your heart's content.
For the "Grease" nuts..and aren't we all now that Taylor is our Teen Angel for the summer....our fan graphics area is bursting with creative talent in the form of banners, wallpapers, and fan created videos. Boy oh Boy, do we have a creative fanbase! If you want your good stuff showcased, feel free to add it.
So if you are needing your "Hicks Fix," stroll on over to our Media area for audio and visual fulfillment. And while you are at it, stop by our Connections message board to talk about Taylor.
TAYLOR, WE ARE SO VERY PROUD OF YOU! GO SOULMAN....KNOCK EM DEAD!

Taylor Hicks opened Friday night in "Grease" as Teen Angel to fabulous reviews and fantastic reception by theatre patrons and fans! Our SoulMan added his special "Taylor Hicks" touch to his number "Beauty School Dropout," complete with harmonica and his soulful voice.
Sporting a pompadour and black gittery suit, descending to the stage in a giant ice cream cone, Taylor was STAR QUALITY from start to finish. Throughout the various sites, you can find recaps and glowing reports, plus lots of wonderful photos. Some of these are ones fans took at the stage door or at Planet Hollywood, where Taylor was honored with his handprints and harmonica print after the show. On The Taylor Hicks Community Media Board, we have tons of professional and stunning photos of the show and Planet Hollywood.
The Taylor Hicks Community has chosen to respect the theatre's guidelines of no patron recording media during a performance. However, we welcome all stage door media and any other allowed "Grease" media that fans want to share.
Stop by our member area and take a peek at the mouth-watering goodies we have there, plus be sure to visit our very creative "Grease" Fan Graphics section. Wow, we have a talented Taylor Fanbase! Also don't miss Taylor and the "Grease" cast on Regis and Kelly this Friday. If you haven't been able to get play tickets, here is your chance to hear and see his number!
Taylor has made it from the streets and bars of Birmingham area to American Idol, to tour God, to BROADWAY STAR! His Dream has exceeded anything he could imagine and we couldn't be prouder.
YES SOULMAN...YOU MAKE US PROUD. PROUD TO BE YOUR FANS, PROUD TO LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU, PROUD OF YOU!

Taylor Hicks is in rehearsals now for "Grease." The theatre policy is NO VIDEO OR AUDIO OR PHOTOS DURING THE PERFORMANCE. It is my fervent hope that this will be strictly followed by everyone in the audience, to show respect for Taylor and the theatre who has given him this FABULOUS opportunity!
However...take heart! The actors usually come out the side stage door to sign autographs and take pictures after the performance. No clue about before hand. Also, thanks to OBG's persistence in communicating with the theatre, she found out that several local stations may stream some audio or video clips on Opening Night, so perhaps Taylor will be in some of those. Check your TV stations if you are in the area, and check the station's websites for possible streams or glimpses of our SoulMan! Here are the ones OBG mentioned:
WABC, WCBS, WNBC
I hope all fans who get to attend have a terrific time and bring back good recaps and whatever photos they are allowed to legally obtain after the performance is over.
It's so great that Taylor will have so much support, not only at Opening Night, but all through the summer when his fans are sitting in those audiences. Any and all gifts or cards can be sent to Taylor by mailing them to the theatre address and putting Attention Taylor Hicks on the package or envelope. He gets his own dressing room...WOOHOO...STAR TREATMENT! So anything sent to him will be taken there.
BREAK A LEG, TAYLOR...BUT NOT YOUR DANCING ONES!

Taylor Hicks...silver fox of the Soul World....brings his special Magic to the Broadway stage. He has been given the role of Teen Angel in "Grease," and will be appearing from June 6 until September 7.
What a terrific honor for our SoulMan! And what great exposure...and yes I could be making a pun if he wears wings and tights...lol! Taylor is excited about this new summer venture and so are we, his fanbase. He is sure to add campy, fabulous Taylorizing to this song and make his mark on the theatre stage as well as the tour stage.
DON'T MISS THIS! Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster and are fairly reasonable for decent seats. There are afternoon and evening shows...just make sure to check with the theatre to make sure your choice stars Taylor for that performance. "Grease" first opened in 1972 and has had a long history in theatre and film, with many stars playing the teen angel role, most notably in Franke Avalon. Others include Donny Most, Davy Jones, Eddy Mekka, Chubby Checker, Al Jarreau and Jennifer Holliday.
RUN DON'T WALK TO YOUR NEAREST TICKETMASTER! This has to be the most fun you will have all summer!

Taylor Hicks....DERBY MAN! He looked great, seemed to be having a fine time, and as usual, carried himself and his WOO with great charm. Taylor didn't get his TV Red Carpet time, but his pictures are posted everywhere, along with video snippets of his southern "Grace At The Race." He mingled with other celebs, attended parties and galas, and just generally seemed to have had a RAWKIN good time!
A beautiful mare named EightBells lost her life running a race for humans to make money, finishing second in a fabulous run, and breaking both her ankles and having to be euthanized there. This bothers me...sorry.
Just take a look at any fansite on the net....it is filled with glorious photos of witness to how good our SoulMan looked and felt at the Derby. His suits, while a little long in the sleeves...LOL...were a perfect offset to his silver hair and his southern charm. His smile could light up the darkest room...and he definitely knows how to pose for the cameras...lol! Our Boy has surely come full circle now.
For some peeks at all this DERBY WONDERFULNESS,check the various fansites around the Taylor world, and make SURE to stop by our TTHC~TMO boards for recaps, discussion, and of course, media. We have lots of nice photos contributed by many, plus some little video snippest to download in nontour video and photo sections.
SO **RACE,** DON'T WALK, TO YOUR NEAREST TAYLOR SITE AND GET THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE BEAUTIFUL ABOUT THE KENTUCKY DERBY!

This week at The Taylor Hicks Community~TMO media side, we are featuring one of Taylor's most memorable performances on American Idol, one even Simon Scowal couldn't negate...he even liked it! "You Send Me" definitely sent the women viewers into another world! Taylor is one of the most giving artists I know of. His love for children and their welfare is always evident, and he is yet again showing this side in two charity events this month.
Tomorrow night, March 15th, he is performing with the Osmond family at the Children's Miracle Network Bash in Orlando at a Disney Resort. The CMN is a non profit organization co-founded by Marie Osmond, and has helped countless children by raising funds for children’s hospitals to give the best care possible. Taylor is going to definitely give them a night to remember!
On March 29th, he is performing at the Greenhill School Gala in Texas, for their annual charity event. To help maintain its superior educational reputation, each year the school hosts a Charity Gala to benefit the schools Endowment Fund for Financial Aid. It is an honor to be asked to perform, and Taylor is going to fulfill that in a most exciting way!
Taylor is opening his Heart and Soul brand of caring and music to these and other charitable events, which go far to help children in need and their families. Our SoulMan definitely shows he cares in many ways, and this is one of the most endearing of all.

So Taylor can sing and dance...that is apparent to all by now. He has brought his signature moves to many stages and arenas, and now to the basketball court! Our SoulMan held his own in the Celebrity All Star Game, scored three points and numerous assists, including two signature moves whereby one time he was on his knees and then another time on his belly, and still managed to shoot a pass to his teamates to keep the ball with their team. Now THose are Taylor Moves to remember!
But that is not all the ball handling our man can do. He is once again on the greens! The annual Regions Chartity Golf is coming up in May and our boy will be stompin over the grass. I think soon we will have a sequal to Heart Full of Soul, entitled....Heart Full of SCORE!
